    2019 OSHA Fine Increase

    Despite the government shutdown, the Federal Register has published the increased rates for OSHA fines for 2019. Penalties assessed after today, January 23, will follow the new penalty structure. Rates are reassessed every year based on inflation rates, no later than January 15. #osha #citations

    OSHA Fines High for Repeat Violations

    OSHA continued doling out increased fines this week, issuing citations to a New Jersey company for lack of fall protection (repeat) for $124,709 and lack of PPE (repeat) for $97,988. From OSHA: "Frame Q continues to jeopardize the safety of its employees by not providing basic safety equipment that saves lives," said Lisa Levy, director of OSHA's Hasbrouck Heights Area Office.     OSHA increased its maximum penalties for the first time in 25 years, beginning August 2, 2016. Repeat and willful violations now carry a maximum penalty of $124,709, up from $70,000. On September 22, 2016 OSHA issued 4 citations to Carlson Enterprises, LLC of Jacksonville, FL, including two willful citations.
